Where does the whirring noise come from
Where does the whirring noise come from
Anyone identified the bit(s) that are responsible for the whimpy whirring whistling noise these all make? In self defense I have drilled a couple of holes in the baffles to make it sound a little more... manly, but that intrusive whirring noise really detracts from the experience. I've had my stethoscope on it but cant get to the source. I've never heard any other engine make this kind of sound, so, any clues?
Re: Where does the whirring noise come from
Is it like a chuffa chuffa chuffa noise??? As long as its not takka takka takka then it should be fine

Re: Where does the whirring noise come from
I think the whirring noise comes from something going round.
Can't say I have ever noticed a whirring noise in 11 years of ownership. Diagnosis of a sound without the sound is, impossible.

Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Don't worry, you are not mad. I know exactly the noise you mean. It's just the engine internals doing their thing. Don't worry about it. It's like the thing where they smell funny in the rain. Just something it does.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
