My strom has only 3400 miles on it, now on it's 3rd battery, and is always run on an optimiser. Someone tell me about that?
CBR 600 FY, new CCT @ 3500 miles, mate 01 Blade new CCT at 5000 miles, has always been an achillies heel of Honda, very good friends of mine were mechanics for Honda dealerships in the 70's, same problems then as now, just a design fact. Any manufacturer has these design facts, just gotta live with them, pay's ya money + takes ya choice. Now - how often you heard about CCT problems on CBR600 PC25? Never? correct... On Hornets? Never? Correct.

Slow in, slow out. Ohh err missus, now with added G-Force carbon fibre race cans. Sounds like a Spitfire.
Mine lasted from new (Jan '99) until last week.Orange Robbie wrote: My strom has only 3400 miles on it, now on it's 3rd battery, and is always run on an optimiser. Someone tell me about that?
Might be pointing a problem with your charging system m8...
always try and put youself in a position to take advantage of the available luck!
of course
Of course that's possible - I can continue that list:Orange Robbie wrote:BluesmanCBR 600 FY, new CCT @ 3500 miles, mate 01 Blade new CCT at 5000 miles, has always been an achillies heel of Honda, very good friends of mine were mechanics for Honda dealerships in the 70's, same problems then as now, just a design fact. my friend 's Kawasaki Vulcan 750 - after 30 000 km, CCT gone. Vulcan owners saying that CCTs achilles heel of Vulcan

another old friend - GSX400FW - after 17000 km, bent valves (grey import), nobody had a clue why chain jumped and CCT did not do it's job..
I agree - it's one's choice....
I just think it's all about statistics, not particular case....
My dealer keep telling me that he has more CBRs (blades) than VTRs gone with CCT, but then you can not compare sold figures for VTR here and CBRs here..
Never heard such story about CBR600 PC25 series thou...
Ah, one more - Ducati 749 of another mate...not CCT, his generator rotor dispenced itself into pieces and blocked engine

That's why I want RC51 engine in CBR1000RR frame with no plastic

Anyway - if you are on 3rd battery, almost guaranteed that you either have a periodic shortcut in generator or your RR are half-alive (it can be exactly half-live, even if it is still seem to work).
Did you tried to check how many volts you have on battery contacts at medium - high RPMs? If it is between above 13.8-14.4 that's normally OK, but if more -

4 wheels moving body, 2 wheels moving soul
feck it
Mine went yesterday on the way home from work
, the front one went while starting to go up hill in third at about 30 ( steady throtle) , i was also only on a trackday a couple of weeks ago flying around cadwell so i'm glad i didnt go then, what are the CCT mods talked about as i dont want to go through this again, cheers. ps bike in lots of bits and could be off the road for a while as i'm not sure if anything is bent yet
but never fear del is on the case

Bad luck m8.
Make sure you check the valve timing, but even if it's out, it will probably be OK once sorted. I was expecting bent valves etc, but nowt that a bit of time with the tank, head cover and fairing off didn't sort.
Funny how we both had the CCT go at 30 in 3rd up a hill after a Trackday
- must be what does it then
Did you hear any odd noises in first a few miles beforehand?

I'm having one of those days where other peoples inability to do their jobs is wrecking my head so I decided today was the day to contact Honda about the CCTs.
Well, as there is no contact details available for Honda in Ireland, I have to contact the UK. The feedback section on the website says that the will not enter into discussion on anything related to servicing or products, and if you want to discuss these matters please call... 01753 590510 (for motorcycles). Methinks when I'm wound up good and proper at about 5 I'll give them a call.

Dear Mr Wilde
Thank you for your enquiry which was passed to the Customer Services
Department. Their reply follows:-
"If you purchased a tensioner today, it would be modified compared
to the
original one supplied by the factory.
Thank you and best regards
Guy"
so what are they trying to say?yes there is a modded cct?or not?3 different answers from 3 bona fide people??????

Aaarrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Why can't they just say there is a BIG problem with the CCT's. I mean, if every post about CCT's is about them failing and some are leading to fairly disasterous engine casseroles with bits floating surely it's time to put the hands up and say ok, we admit it, we ballsed up, the CCT's are sh1te. Hey suppose they can't do that either or they'd be liable for all the previous ones that went pop. Catch 22.
