Whats it worth in your opinion (be nice)

Post by matt1966 »

Hi all, looks like the old Storm is gonna have to go, but I dont have a clue what its worth, to make matters worse I dropped it this week ( first time ever ). Anyway was hoping to get an idea of value. Its a 98 with almost 40000 miles although engine was rebuilt by guy who had it before me after CCT failure. Runs lovely and I put on manual CCT's. It has custom paint (red with metal flake) which isnt gonna be everyones cup of tea but seeing as I dropped it could be a good time to change. Not much damage from the drop just filler and paint needed was more of a lay down than drop. Has carbon sleeve cans fairly noisy but pass MOT ok. New rear tyre and front is reasonable. I was thinking in the region of £800 any opinion would be great.

That sounds like a good price- someone should snap it up, just cosmetic issues, a serious buyer would see past them if its mechanically sound.

Mechanically all good in the 18 months I have had it I have done the manual CCT (I was at Tony's first workshop day to get the low down) also have done the head bearings and geared it down and new chain a little while ago.

I would hope it is worth more than that, but that might just be because my bike is same age.

This time of year is a bad time to sell and if it is cosmetic issues as well it will drive price down, so if you can wait till spring and so the touch ups the value will go up by £500

has it got any T&T on it?? 7-800 if it's got a reasonable amount, IMHO. paint doesn't do it any favours, to be honest.

Not a bad price, and you may get that, or pretty near it.

I'll be selling one soon with good tyres, paint, and similar MOT tax etc but without the drop damage for under £1000.

But mine's yellow, so obviously more desirable. :D
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

i bought a similar bike last year with a custom paint job with minor damage, it had less mileage 33k and manual cct's, i found out it was a cat-c over ten years ago, i managed to get the price down to £720, it's not the best time of year to sell but the bike would make a decent winter bike for someone, so i reckon £800 is about right, i'd stick it on ebay and take my chances............good luck fella
