cct mod
I have posted a pic in the gallery under "misc" called cctmod1.
Make up a modded bolt as in the pic and replace the standard end bolt with it. When u reassemble the cct unscrew the modded bolt so that it protrudes slightly into the slot that holds the end of the spring. Retract the cct by screwing the modded bolt in until the cct is abot 2/3 retracted. Lock the lock nut. Replace it into the motor and undo the lock nut, the cct will extend till it contacts the chain guide under pressure from the spring.
Run the motor and take it up to about 3000rpm. Lock the nut and you are safe. Cct cannot retract even if the spring breaks.
Periodically undo the lock nut and screw the modded bolt in about half a turn with yr fingertips and release it, if it turns back half a turn when you let go, yr springs still ok. Run the motor again and lock the nut. You have readjusted the tension.
PS: I have also "repaired" a broken spring by grabbing the end with long nosed pliers and bending it across the middle and putting it back. I would only recommend this if u cannot get a new cct like me, who lives in Zimbabwe.
Tony Carol and I worked on this idea as a team. So thanks to him. He has a neat video of this if u can persuade him to post it. My bike is running with the ccts modded as above.[/u]

fitted the modded ones to my bike at the weekend trade..no probs at all..all sorted..
.just had to put a bit of silicone on rear cct threads and stopped a slight oil leak.sorted!cheers.

right thats the cct's sorted...for my next trick the suspension linkags are comig out and being drilled for grease fittings..cos ive heard...and honda havent ...that they break with age due to seizure

be careful because unless the cylinder is at tdc on the compression stroke, say your checking the rear and the exhaust valve has just passed max lift then the adjustment above will seam as if the spring has broken as the valve springs will over power the cct spring and it will not turn back in and if you continue to turn it clockwise the cam wheel will eventually jump on the cam chain.
Have you done any distruction testing on the mod as the forces on the cct are very large hence the worn type gear. Have you tried it without the spring too to see if it holds?

sorry to but in but i did have my hand up
i took an old one that i had and stuffed it in a 6"vice and continally done it up til the handle nearly bent..of course the modded bolt bent to buggery but the cct didnt retract.but i did notice about 1/4"of movment as the rubber end squashed from the force.which was encouraging because we know now theres a bit of leeway to be had with the rubber end.which is like another spring in a way.i never adjusted or twiddled the modded cct with the engine running..i looked inside during fitting to make sure the cct done its job and sure enough the chain was tight.i also turned the engine over manually a few times and rechecked everything before doing up the lock nut...i was delighted after fitting when it started up and just sat there ticking over and i revved it out a few times and let it warm up.out on the road ..let it get warm enough then..revved the plums out of it everywhere i could..came back..no horrible sounds and sweet as a nut.well..i hope with this mod we can save a few more engines from the skip..cheers guys.

if you ask me nicely ill make a nice titanium bolt set for you

stainless steel bolts are onlt 70%as strong as hi ten bolts ok mate?so i used hi ten in mine...titanium would look nice though!!

and - to my suprise - Diversion 600 CCT can be a headache - apparently it get's stuck sometimes..
Well, gear driven cams only the answer....rc51 then...

actually bink your not far off there..with all this talk of cct's going bang and stuff i reckon loads of people are thinking of changing their bike for that reason alone.apart from the mods mentioned,it really is up to honda to sort this out before someone gets killed.
