VFR is too bland and sensible for me ... and I don't ride a bike because they 'sensible' :) .... Here Here I i you say!

Apart from the CCT I would not think about an other bike ... If I change it will be for this reason ...

i understand mate..but it comes to something when you have to rack yer brains for months just to make a bike reliable which should have been in the first place.and the response from honda is a lottery of confusion..yes ,no,dont know  .cheers.

Tony/tradedog
had a look an old tensioner last night cause something jst didn't sit right in my mind.
The groove which the end of your modded bolt slots into only rotates. As the chain slackens the rotation is anti-clockwise.
So as you turn the bolt to allow the ajustment to happen as it is on a thread won't it just lift itself out of the groove after a turn or so?

Why not just measure the distance down to the turning slotted bolt thingy, drill a hole in from the side, tap a thread into it and screw a bolt in to act as a locking nut?

good point pete but wrong...the tensioner rotates on a 8to 1 ratio..so if the bolt was out that far the cct rod would be at the end of its useful travel anyway...if you give me your email i have a video showing what happens ok?its 5mb im affraid.as for the bolt in the side...yes you could do that..but this idea is a lot less ferkin about.also your idea would be stressing the cct sideways too..pushing it off centre somewhat...i have looked into making a ratchet system...because i think thats the only way to make it fully automatic and still have the reasurance that it wont retract if the spring breaks..how?i dont know yet!had a few ideas but for now this idea of trade and mine is about the only useful solution..until honda come up with something else..which i doubt!cheers pete...always welcome feedback on this issue!!
as for adjustment...you just undo the lock nut and the spring adjusts the chain ok?then you do up the locknut....you dont touch the bolt at all..

Tony, how did you manage to get her to wedge the CCT "there" while you twiddled the bolt? Ingenious.
