So this is where it all started with my first VTR.

The bike became the cover shot for Micron back in 2000.

It's a shame that I didn't keep it in that condition for long....head on crashes tend to hurt bikes a little!

So I had to replace the bike which was totalled, next step a 50th Anniversary storm.

I then moved away from Micron a little to spend time with my mates at ART, here is the bike after some more modifications in a glass case at the NEC bike show in 2001, by then the front end had been changed for a polished blade one and she was now wearing ART high level exhausts.

I soon got bored with the VTR looks and went a little mad so fitted some Tocico 6 pots up front, followed by VFR800 rear end that I later modified to fit Ducati back wheel followed by a Mario Nava one off carbon fairing and single seat unit to compliment the one off underseat exhaust that I designed. I used to like to polish things back then, if it was alloy it got polished like it or not!

It was at this point I realised there was no point in having a 50th Anniversary Firestorm since most of the 50th parts were now sat in my loft so I decided to return it to standard, all be it a very polished standard to sell on and allow me to build a new VTR with all my trick self designed parts I had evolved over the last couple of years. Here it is again in 2002 before I sold it.

Having sold the old girl I next picked up an 02 frame and engine and started 'project VTR' which I decided needed an upside down front end so turned to a Ducati 916 one, the rear had to be as good so I went down the Penski route. Here is the bike built up again complete with all the goodies taken from the old VTR, this was how it looked when it made the 2003 Performance bikes & RIDE magazines.

The bike stayed in this guise for a year or so before I got bored once more, this time I decided to go down the street fighter route so off came the fairing and the top yoke was modified to fit Renthal flat bars. The rads looked horrid so I moved the oil cooler down and replaced the side rads with a single front mounted one to get the right look. Wheels got changed for Marchesini 5 spokes and I changed the design of the underseat exhausts, I also waved goodbye to polished alloy and said hello to satin black!

This kept me happy for a couple of years but I have again got the itch to mess with her, so she is now missing the whole back end in readiness for an 08 R1 back end complete with two full sized underseat exhausts.....watch this space!
It has been one hell of a journey, I don't even want to think how much time or money I have spent but it has kept me happy....will I ever sell my Firestorm.....erm, what do you think!
