103 miles then the light comes on (again)

Post by T8ull »

Christ, 103 miles!!!! Well I suppose it makes you stop for a rest. The sign you see on the motorway should read
" Avoid tiredness.......buy a Firestorm" !!!!

Still lovin it though, went out with my mate on Saturday, he has a 2009 CB 1000 R he couldn't believe the noise the VTR made!! (plus the extra £6k he paid!!)
.........So far, so good, so what!

depends entirely how you ride the bike.
it wont be more economical by lugging it at low rpm in higher gears... mine is definately more economical mid rpm at motorway speeds.
with the 19L tank ive had over 200 miles out of it - record for mine was 240!! and as low as 68 on a track day.
with the jetting as it is i usually average 100 - 115 miles with an average fill of about 17L.

things to improve mpg... replace plugs after 5-8k if using iridiums, keep the air filter clean, chain in good nick & greased, tyre pressures checked and carbs balanced.

103 miles to the light isnt bad for the 16L tank - you still have 4L ish left.
just enjoy the bike! trust me, they are no worse on fuel than any other 1000cc vee twin, except maybe the rc8 which is exceptionally frugal for some reason!
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Once my light of doom comes on I have 16 miles left, that is confirmed with a 2 mile push to the BP. :(
She told me she was 16.

i'm on a 16 ltr tank

give it the beans in summer and it can be around 68-70 miles till it comes on, normal speeds with overtakes i get about 90-100 miles before light, and taking it very easy anywhere from 110-120

my personal best which involved me riding like a granny sitting behind a Truck from work @ 56mph for 40 + miles a night on motorway was 137 miles till light came on, couldn't believe it, thought the LED has stopped working and was expecting to break down, i willed it go get to 140 before the orange light, dam close tho!!
