Fork chroming
Fork chroming
Apart from AM Philpot in Luton, does anyone know of a company that would be able to hard chrome the fork lowers of my 954 USD forks?
Nothing against Philpot's, they did good work on my GT250 forks, but just interested to assess options and prices.
Cheers in anticipation.

http://www.pittedforks.co.uk have a good rep.
oh sorry - thay are aka philpotts lol!
i did find nother place and posted it here somewhere.... maybe search 'pitted' with my name.
tbh for less £ you could take the stanchions to a local precision engineer and get a stainless set made up. its only a threaded tube...
failing that, wemoto & silvers can sell you new ones. its not much dearer than rechroming.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
Re: Fork chroming
Cheers Benny, that link is to AM Philpot's (pitted forks). I like the idea of Stainless tubes but are they as efficient/strong as hard chrome? The only reason I ask is I haven't heard of stanchions made of anything other than hard chromed steel ( I have led a very sheltered life!!!).

Thanks for that Thumper I have used them before, about 10 years ago now, however someone on here recently had a bad time with some shoddy fork tubes from them.

Re: Fork chroming
That was me, shocking quality and even worse service from them, bunch of monkeys springs to mind! I ended up with some from Wemoto, made by some Italian company, cant remember their name, but there top notch, side by side to OEM and not a difference at all!Kev L wrote:Thanks for that Thumper I have used them before, about 10 years ago now, however someone on here recently had a bad time with some shoddy fork tubes from them.
Re: Fork chroming
And Wemoto do sexy gold stanchions for the 954 usd's, hmmmmm. £166 per leg though.

Ouch, thats quite an amount of money! lolKev L wrote:And Wemoto do sexy gold stanchions for the 954 usd's, hmmmmm. £166 per leg though.
Although from what Ive been told the gold doesnt last too long, especially on a road bike that clocks up the mileage, eventually they end up looking a little tired, however, they do look well swish, although black nitride would be my preference!
Re: Fork chroming
Philpot's charge £220ish to chrome the stripped out lowers of usd's. I will have a look around and see what I fancy before spending out.
