No screws used cause I thought they would spoil the lines just like you Marty.

I scored and degreased both surfaces and the used a hot melt glue gun, which sets pretty fast so you are not holding it for hrs. then fully filled the leading edge gap with silicon so nowater could get in and force the gap open.

Stayed on no probs for 3yrs so far and that includes a few heavy wheelie landings that whip the mudguard to hit the tire!

I remember when I replaced the Ram Air tubes on my 7r - from Factory with joins, seams, resonators etc - to straight through...

It sounded like it was going to eat babies!!

i did a spot of front brake caliper painting today.
its hard to show the true colour without natural light but i'm happy enough, theres a few spots that need touching up, but i need the paint to harden a bit first.
the calipers started off like this

then i took them apart and cleaned and sanded them

and then the fiddly bit of painting them

all i have to do now is scrub the blue paint off me hands......

Subframe

Post by Stratman »

First job in the "Give the Storm a Birthday" has been to remove the rear subframe for painting. Quite how I'm going to get the undertray re-attached with thye cables in the correct places is yet to be discovered - not looking forward to that bit!

Then its all alloy part polished, wheels to repaint, forks to repaint. Fairings off and through clean underneath. Check all connectors for signs of corrosion.

Check valve shims and manual CCTs. Adjust head bearings. Rebuild front master cylinder plus normal "service" jobs.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Take photos before you take it all apart, make notes, refer to Haynes pics for reference, used a combination of these when I did mine & all seems to work ok now it's back together. Good luck & Happy birthday Storm.

Played around with some blanking plates, spacers & back plates trying to fill the hole where I've fitted mindicators, no joy so put em back as were.

Did change me gear link rod as mine had some cracks in it. I noticed this way back when I had it all apart earlier in the year only just got a new one, fiver from silvers.

Cracks at both ends one end is cracked both sides.

The worst crack....eek!
