What a lovely day for................Changing CCT's Parked in the sunlight and did it alfresco, only 4 degrees but felt a lot more in the sunshine, stuck to the recommended method purely to guage the amount of slack in the chain when adjusting the Manuals bolt (Mark Krieger) Quite pleased with the results and only one attack of "Tourettes" whilst trying to get the front cam cover breather pipe back on The Bastid thing!
Well done!
One comment, though-
Unless you pull out the plugs first, always use a breaker bar or fixed bar, rather then a ratchet on the engine bolt to turn the engine over.
Reason: going over compression it will roll a few clicks on the ratchet handle, and you'll lose track of how many degrees of turn you have moved.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Well spotted Tony I thought you would be the first to spot the deliberate mistake! I did start off with the ratchet and it jumped...So went and got my 3/8 breaker bar!..........One thing i noticed today whilst doing the front cylinder, A few degrees before the FT timing mark on the crank appears in the aperture window an F appears with a plain timing mark! this is whilst turning anti-clockwise the 1 and 1/4 turns to time the front cylinder after the rear is finished..........just in case someone hastily sees the "F" and thinks it is FT..............something for peeps to watch out for???????????
That breather pipe, by the way....
you have to fit the cam cover end first, leave the clip on the pipe but moved 25mm down from the pipe end.
Then slide your hand under the airbox lower, nothing else should be connected, and you can feel but not see to get the pipe pushed on to the spigot. Hold onto the pipe with your right hand.
Now, leaving the airbox in place, push your left hand down at the triangular space between the airbox and the headstock.
Open the clip with your right hand, and move the back of the clip up into place at the same time as lifting the clip handles up.
Easy, the tenth or eleventh time you do it!
