Is anyone else thinking that being in London during the Olympics, and trying to get around, is gonna be a royal pain in the rear.

Thinking of getting the f**k outta here....Bike trip to Scotland sounds appealling !!

Ha Ha....I work in Greenwich, it's already causing me agro getting around thanks!

Loads of road works all over the borough, trying to make things right for the big weeks.

The equestrian events are being held in Greenwich park & the shooting & archery venues are being built on Woolwich Common.

There is a possible holiday ban throughout the summer for all staff to boot, except no doubt for the top management!

I wonder how many ''athletes'' will end up staying in the country claiming asylum at the end of it all?

some of the chaanges to the road network are not just going to be in place for the 4 weeks of the olympics, oh no that would be to easy, they will start 6 to 8 weeks before the olympics, so the general public will have a good understanding of the said road networks when the games begin, a complete load of ball cocks, great we get 10 to 12 weeks of terrible traffic instead of 4, well ain't that dandy and fine, trust me its going to be chaos, it will be interesting to see if it gets widely reported in the news.....mmmmmmm

Are you saying that traffic is normally fine in London then?

Not the Black Cabs,,it's the Green Badge holders (licenced mini cabs) that cause the most problems, none of em can drive. I avoid em like the plague.. oh and the cyclists...

Once all that lot's over, in early September, the cycling events for the Paralympics are based at Brands Hatch, with main road (A20) closures, but there's no info re alternative routes until 2 weeks before the start date, because terrorists can't react that quickly.
However, they expect that Care Agencies can react quickly enough, as we have only two weeks to get staff where they should be.

I've been to several briefings about this; the first one was delivered by a Disaster Planning Officer, which gives you an idea of how Kent County Council are thinking about this.....
