On the open road they are pretty good.
I rode mine to Italy a couple of years ago and had very few problems. It does get very hard work on thin slow single track roads or pootling about town. My wrists were ready to drop off doing the last 15 ish miles to Si's gaff up and over the vallys but it was worth it. The seat is big enough to slide around on and change position every so often. That helps keep the stiffness away greatly. A tourer it definitley isn't but it's more than capable of doing it.
Are you thinking of having a change?

i find the sp very comfy tbh.Image wrote:Would I be right in saying the SP's are not as comfortable on a long ride as a standard storm?
320 miles last weekend & no aches apart from a slightly dead left leg which is more due to old age than the bike.
maybe cos im short butt but i dont get any wrist ache off the sp (or storm) at all.
when i first got the storm i found it hard to ride over 100 miles cos of wrist ache but rear sets sorted that.
regarding town use on the sp,,,, get a power commander & it takes away the chugging.
same as the storm, best to fit 15T front sprocket imo s std they are a bit overgeared.
an absolute gent to ride around town, so much so that i decided to do my advanced on the sp1, it's so easy to ride, from 10mph to silly speeds.
didnt want to do it on the storm as it's still a pig at low speeds and doesnt like going under 30 at all.
difference between sp1 & 2... not a lot, apart from the sp2 has different injectors & throttle bodies for better atomisation and a few more donkeys.
i'm really going to upset people here by saying i actually prefer my firestorm over the sp & think a well sorted storm is a better bike for all round use.
dont get me wrong, i love my sp1 and think its a keeper, but it not a firestorm & never will be.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

its the number of holes in the injectors m8.bazza696 wrote:throttle bodies on the sp2 have something like 12 injectors where the sp1 has 4, to give better distribution of fuel.
dont quote me on it...
the sp2 injectors have 12 holes, the sp1 have 4 (or 7 like mine lol ;) )

Re: What's the difference betwen the SP1 & the SP2?
A lot of people would take the SP1 over the SP2 as it was the original and best. It was felt that the SP2 was "toned down" to make it more rideable but this took away some of the originals character. As for Storm versus SP, its really horses for courses. I`ve posted somewhere before that if I want to go out and just have a general thrash around, then the Storm is the one I would take. However, if I was going out for a real "spirited" ride through the twisties then the SP would be the weapon of choice. It seems to be a much more focused riders bike compared to the Storm which I would class as a very good all rounder.
I hope you all get lucky enough as some of us on here, myself included, to be able to own both.

Don't forget you have high performance cams in your bike Benny, so it's not going to be so smooth at low revsbenny hedges wrote: didnt want to do it on the storm as it's still a pig at low speeds and doesnt like going under 30 at all.
