Front End's

Post by TonyW650 »

Hi all,
Right Ive managed to get a entire front end of a 96 blade for a 100 quid, yokes, calipers and disks master cylinder, switch gear, clip on's, etc...
its got a 16 inch front wheel, for the moment until I can source a 17 inch vfr, cbr wheel will the storm wheel fit in it?
and also how easy is it to swop the front end?
done other swops on other bikes and dont want to have to do loads of machining, the last one i did was a gsxr usd front end onto a z650/1000J hybrid

Good find :)
The storms front wheel will bolt on with no mods .
And the only other thing that you will have to change is the clip ons as the blade bars will fowl on the fairing .
I used ultra low renthal bars with 1.5" risers through the top yoke .
Fit new tapered head race bearings
The storms and the blades stems are the same as are the head bearings .
The horn wires will need made longer .recon the forks new seals and bushes and 5w oil .linear
Springs you can get from Mct suspension £105 suited to your weight but you will need a new spring spacer made to length ,I used aluminium tv aerial tube 1.5" from a hardware shop £10 for 8f :).

Stick a VTR wheel in with the 96 Blade front end, you will feel it well saggy since the Blade was a lot lighter than the storm so get a set of Ohlins linear springs for about £70 to transform the handling.

As said before you need to fit Spondon Blade/Storm bar risers that cost £75 from Spondon racing.......or why not consider fitting Renthals, you can get bar mounts for about £25 to fit the Blade top yoke and then a set of renthals for £30 plus a little modification to the fairing and bobs your uncle!
