The madness continues!

This is completely siezed! The collar came out as well as all the individual needles!! F$%k!!!
Are these the parts I need? http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/VTR1 ... art_66761/
Image

Are these marks normal? On the shock side of the swingarm.
Image

Swinger primed. 2 coats of acid etch.
Image

3 coats of black.
Image

3 coats of laquer.

I left the ends unpainted as a trial. I think it looks ok so I'm going to leave it that way. :cool2

Is this safe? I've put washers under the clevis but is this enough thread to hold it? Maybe a mm or two to go when I fully tighten it.

Now I've just got to put it all back together! 8O

But a satisfying job none the less, Changed the brake and clutch fluids due to the nice shade of sh1t colour they were, and they are probably the original stuff put in at the factory 14 years ago? The clutch reservoir shows the before colour :eek2

done the same to mine today too. nearly black, never mind sh1t colour. Also removed air filter and plugs in anticipation of new replacements which are
on my shopping list today along with front and rear break pads, chain and both sprockets. Still needs a new Tyre on the rear and the CCTs. These will be done over the next few weeks.

Had some braided oil lines made up this week to fit the SP1 oil cooler to the VTR. They look good but to keep them that way I am going to put transparent heat shrink over the top of them, so just waiting for that to arrive before fitting it.

On the subject of oil lines, the company I used made an error, or rather there was a mis-communication between us. They made the new lines out of the SP1 cooler connections and the SP1 engine connectors where it should have been the VTR engine connectors. So I have a spare set of oil line to engine line connectors if anyone wants to purchase them from me. They are the bottom pair in the last photo and as you can see the orientation of the fittings is completely different to the Storm. These are the most difficult bit of the swap having to have a welded thread so that screw fittings can be used, and they have done a nice job on them.

Good job there, Kev.

The other option is to leave the flexible part of the Storm line on, then use a compression fitting on the first few mm of the old chromed steel pipe, which is what i did.

What are you planning for the top mounting bracket?
Only one of the holes will line up....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Tony I had the bracket taken off and re-welded to match the Storm oil cooler, so it should be as secure as the original.

Mine's still hanging on one bolt, seems to stay where it should.
Keep meaning to remember to cable tie through the remaining hole, just for belt and braces, but it's been on for over a year now, so I figure it's good enough.
And saves the weight of a bolt!

Having bought the bike last November and spending part of the winter stripping her down for a clean-up, full service, manual CCTs and RR mods - (following the helpful advice on here), I finally got her taxed and did my first 100 ish miles on her today........what a cracking bike they are!! I have never been without bikes for the past 30 years and yet this is my first VTR and I'm loving it - I'm already thinking its a "keeper".
Yes, the tank range is low, and my 1st tankful resulted in a 38mpg average.....but what a cracking engine (and sound) :D .

Could be a Matlock run for me in the morning!
