So who's storm has the most thunder then???

Post by seb421 »

Been wondering for a while who has the most Power from there storm with a legitimate Dyno print out?

Those who have print outs post them now along with a picture of the bike and engine if possible

What performance mods have been done...,

and how much at a guess you have thrown at it to be the boss of the storms!

This isnt a guessing thread but if I was to guess, it'd be the chap with the stage 2/3 Moriwaki track bike....cant see anyone beating that with a road bike.

While clearly not in the league of the serious race bikes (Stage 2 and 3 bikes built by Roger D), I am quite hopeful/optimistic that my bike will cross the 130 bhp/80 lb-ft barriers this spring.... I will be getting it dynoed in the coming weeks.....

Have a look at the bottom line on the dyno printout, in red.

Not bad, though, depending on what correction factors they dialled in.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

My last dyno run (right after the rebuild, about 16 months ago) had the bike putting out 122 bhp and 77 lb-ft of torque. While decent, I must confess I was expecting more. Since then, I had the cams re-timed (now has about 5 degrees more overlap - the Yosh timing specs were EXTREMELY conservative; definitely feels stronger and revvier while riding now). I also had new tappets put in which have a DLC coating (reduce friction). I will be installing a Krankvent shortly (reduces pressure in sump to reduce pumping losses) and have an HRC ignition box to hook up (been told by those in the know that it makes a noticeable difference in the way it runs, especially above 5300 rpm).

In the end, I won`t really know the final numbers until the fateful dyno day (will post them up when I am done). One thing is sure, however, it was blast to ride before and will only be better when I wheel it out in the next little while. Of course, having dropped about 80 lbs of wet weight (a significant portion of it rotating, from the wheels, clutch, crank and reciprocating parts) helps a lot too.......
