Bigger bore headers?

Post by Jester666 »

When I had my old SV650S you could buy M4 or Micron headers that had a bigger bore/freeer flowing than the standard ones.

Are there any similar options for the 'Storm?

How do these effect performance? I presume they increase it somewhere along the lines whether it be more HP or different torque amounts? :confused

Any dyno info!?!?!?!

i should br getting mine dyno'ed in a month or so,, but because my bog standard setup wasn't dyno'ed its hardto say the benefits,it should allow the gases to exit better hence a few more bhp.....fingers crossed, it deffo's sounds better tho

Funny you should mention this, as I have been talking to an exhaust mnfr with a view to getting some made, prob in stainless for cost reasons, but poss Ti option as well.

But I need one to copy, and of course would do a before/after dyno run to provide hard evidence of any gain.

Anyone got one they can lend to a good cause for a week or two?

If it means your bike being off the road, I have a spare standard set to lend in the meanwhile.

IIRC, the Moriwaki one needs a modified sump to clear it, I was going to develop an exchange sump service, too, as that would be an easy mod- only the sump itself, and possibly the oil pickup inside.

hi tony
it just so happens i do have a spare set of stage 2 headers ( moriwaki )DROOL !!
Its just the getting them to you ?? real busy at the mo else i would have dropped my
bike over to you as well by now ( still working on my extension all hours :sad2 ).
Im sure we can sort something out but time is my biggest enemy .
by all means your more than welcome to borrow them , might have a spare set made
myself / moriwaki only made 50 sets of these , though youll have to get cans done to match
the bore size as these are larger too , dont wanna go upsetting the gas flow .
regards
YETI..

I have the luxury of having full systems from both Akrapovic and Arrow on hand (Akra is on bike, Arrow is brand new sitting in a box). Having tried to fit the high-rise Arrow link pipe to the Akra header, I can attest that they are exactly the same size (hence the link pipes wouldn't slide over as the Akras do, the Akra link pipes having a slightly larger diameter at the junction to allow them to slide over). As for power, Akra claims 6 bhp@9,500rpm and 5 bhp@7,500rpm while Arrow claim a virtually identical 6.5 hp on top.

Hope this helps......

i use 42mm, 48mm & 54mm id stainless tube at work & have been toying with getting some headers / links made with that as it's very light weight.
just need to find the right place to do the bending.
will ask the lads at tube science (ex blue flame) next time i'm there and theres another place i go to with a cnc pipe bender....
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
