That time of year Grrr!

Sorry for acting the ole seasoned biker thing but has anyone noticed the high number of newbies out on the roads. They always have summat like 'Team Racing' on their jacket and their leathers always colour co-ordinates with their bike and helmet but you know they're newbies because they do all or some of the following;

1 Go real fast in a straight line (usually overtaking you) then slow right down when they have to do anything.
2/ Sit in traffic queues instead of filtering.
3/ Filter through traffic real slow with both feet scraping the ground.
4/ Come to a halt if the gap is vaguely small.
5/ Won't cross the white line at lights so you're stuck behind them and in trouble when the lights go green!
6/ Try and keep their bikes upright on bends and corners.
7/ Stop on hard shoulder under motorway bridges because it's raining!
8/ Tuck behind their screen so they look like Barry Sheene

I'm not anti-newbies or anything, it's just that they're nearly always on 600's, leathered up like moto-gp, limited skills but think they're faster than anyone else even though they go like snails when they actually have to do anything, and they're always coming off. There always seem to be a lot of em at this time of year. Piss me right off!

Excuse me but I've just passed the last half hour getting past them in traffic

You forgot;

Wear Trainers.
Ride with their toes sticking out at 10 to 2.
Arms locked out dead straight.
Bike smothered in anodised bolts and iridium screen, mini indicators.
Wont change in into second until doing at least 70...ever !!
Always have the cheapest tyres known to man.
Ride with a fag on, the helmet fits that badly its easy.

I could go on and on.....

What gets on my wick are the weekend warriors 1000cc race rep leather clad idiots that think as they ride 1 day a week 3 months in 12 they are a god on two wheels cross solid white lines cut you up and generally try to kill themselves and take me out in the process...

Van drivers whose vans are signwritten with anything saying "Speedy" or "Quick" are always holding up the traffic.
Can't explain why, just a fact of life.

with out them the industry and second hard market would be redundant,

speak to them and advise them where possible. two new lads at work on bikes, I went out with them they almost rode in the gutter, now got them taking a dominant position on the road and looking ahead in bends positioning them self better to be see and to allow them to see the road ahead, filtering, when to over take when not too,

if you don't educate and help people they don't learn, I was fortunate enough to be able to just do a DAS and pass I've always been on and around bikes so it's came more natural to me than most new people I guess

99.9% of accidents are avoidable so long as you are riding appropriately and keeping a correct distance, its mad how fast some people ride in a built up area with cars parked on both sides right up the driver in fronts chuff,
my biggest road rage fits come from car drivers getting right up my chuff in a 30 zone

Also My dads a 'weekend warrior' during the year he covers about 50,000 miles a year in a car down the motorways but on the weekend he's a seriously quick rider to the point I worry every ride if he's going to return home when he goes out alone, some of the overtakes I've seen him do have made me cringe and the speed's

My self I've always felt confident I will always filter, that's the benefit of a bike, unless I've got plenty of time and just cant be arsed at that given moment

By no means am I a slow rider, just a time and place for everything

Oh & i forgot to add, the all important bit of advice to any newbie, always remember to take your disc lock off before moving your bike.
