Going to be getting a V-Twin belly pan very soon. I have a silver Storm and to add a bit of contrast I want to paint the bely pan black. I just cant see the bike all silver, its too much for me.
Anyway, I am assuming that I won't like the shade of black the part will already be painted in. As everyone knows, there are thousands of shades out there. Even the Honda paint codes have several shades of black.
What I would firstly like some opinions on is should I look for a metallic black or would a base colour be better?
Does anyone have an opinion on the shade I should go for....maybe a greyer black, a pitch black, charcoal etc.
Has anyone done anything similar with some rattlers from Halfords and what colour did you use?

I chose a grey metallic for the bellypan and tail plastic, made it less..... well............. beyonce.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Good call, never thought of dark Grey......looks good in my head though. Think it will be more subtle than black. Cheerstony.mon wrote:I chose a grey metallic for the bellypan and tail plastic, made it less..... well............. beyonce.

Re: Paint colours
Just checked, I used a Peugeot Graphite metallic.
Left the pillion seat cover in yellow, along with the fairing; front mudguard's carbon, as is the hugger, but it does slim it down a fair bit, visually, that is.
Sort of a diagonal line, higher at the back, lower at the front, below the line is graphite grey, above is yellow.
Bellypan isn't fitted in this one, but you get the idea:

Probably works better with high level exhausts, though.
