i wimped out and paid a friend of a friend to sort my bike out. i,d had the tank on and off about three times this last week or so trying to find something wrong with it and still the ba$%$d still would not rev above about 3k, while he was doing it i asked if he could bung my newly aquired manual cct,s in which he did. was going to do them at wickys next month but now i can enjoy the workshop day without having to do so much actual work.
i feel a bit like i,ve wimped out on the old self sufficiency front but the suns coming out tommorow and ive got a lovely V twin to play with instead of mooching about in the garage not knowing what im doing !
take care tomorrow everybody the weather forcast gives 19 c so the roads will be busy.

the manual cct,s have made the engine feel like new! it is quite a low mileage bike any way but it feels as tight as a drum .
many thanks to bazza of witham for making them , riding it home was very relaxing knowing they wern,t going to go pop

Good too hear you're running again - what was the problem in the end? As for now not having to do your CCTs, you can always fit a front cylinder vacuum adapter to keep you busy
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
hi wicky. well thats a funny thing . he was honest enough to say that he was somewhat mystified cos the only thing he thought it might be was kinked vacuum pipe, cant be can it? how can it be good one end of a dual carriage way and kink up by the other end after a good blast. All i know is it was incapable of revving past 3 k when it went in and now it seems spot on? he said to take it down and have a look at the carbs/pipes/coils etc he would charge me one hours labour, fair enough. to get it running and do the cct,s he charged me for 2, he also fitted a new spark plug to the rear cylinder which i had forgotten to do when i fitted the front plug and was trying to get it running myself. so all in all im reasonably happy as i have got the bike back running. i had a premonition that the old auto tensioner was going to blow about 2 days before 7th of april! .. now i dont have the worry.
any way , im going to give it a good warm up later and hopefully all will be well.
cheers
oh yes and do i need a front cylinder vacuum adapter??

Yes if you want to balance carbs. Think I have a spare or two & will be bringing them along on the 7th, you will also need a T piece & some fuel pipe, 5mm internal diameter, IIRC, about a foot long should do it.
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
Just been out for the first run after CCT's fitted.. Sounds and runs great.
Two new tyres fitted...£260.00..ouch and that was with a bit of discount. Oh well it's all done now so I can enjoy the weather and gets some miles in.
Today i finished off removing the old blue rim tape, was so well on took another hour and half to remove the tape from other side of wheel. all wheels now have orange tape
took off the winter hi-viz tape (what a bitch that was) and then put it away.
wanted so badly to play out but on reverse on the fuel only got 5 quid to my name till Monday and there's no way i was just going to ride to Rivi barn like most of the people round my neck of the woods do
What a day as well... truly wombles gutted, hope its nice on Monday as I'm planing a blast out then
Partial Baffleectomy, I've drilled 4x 10mm holes in each can in the plate between the outlet and outer round pipes, sounds better but a little "blowy" I may try 4x more per can if I don't like it
