I have a Data Tool System 3, brings the insurance down if professionally fitted (they don't always ask for proof, MCE never have)

in my opinion there just not worth having,and most just end up being a problem especialy meta systems
i bought a new blade in 2005 and my insurance wanted nearly a grand to insure it and so i thought what iff i stick a datatool system on thatcham grade 1 now these are around £350 fitted by a certified tech,so informing the insurance company i might be doing this they stated i would save only £43 on my insurance premium so £350 to save £43 now that makes sence dosnt it,i think not,so there you go thats my two penneth put in

I've got a system 3 on mine, waste of time TBH.

No one comes running if the bike was being stolen and the alarm was screaming.

Spyball Patriot - works fine, goes into "sleep mode" after a while, so doesn't flatten battery. Immobilises 30 secs after ignition off.

I have one of those £15 disc-locks that has an alarm in it. If the bike is disturbed in any way it screams. It's good for stopping kids messing about with the bike. To be honest though, proper professional thieves would just throw a bike into the back of a van and they wouldn't worry about damaging it as they'll be stripping it and selling as parts as it pays them more and less chance of being found out than shifting a whole bike intact.

I think the best defence against thieves is to NOT have the latest model of bike as these are the ones the pro-thieves target because the parts sell for more.

Agreed a decent bike theft group would just put it in a refrigerated van and drive off, i'm told GPS trackers don't work in the insulated van's and it really muffles the alarm's too

got an alarm canny mind what kind but it dose my nut in always going of by itself
then i pulled the wire out to the wee speaker thing and its great now no noise but the lights flash
so all is good now
