In the "fix it" category" :
- fixed rear taillight mount in rear cowling (made one out of alum. and epoxied it in there; won't be breaking again anytime soon, muuuuuahahahahahah)
- fixed and reinforced the upper screw holes in same rear cowling

In the mod category (done so far):
- replaced ICM with HRC unit
- cut hole in the front portion of the plastic shelf between the engine and airbox (improve breathing), siliconed in a piece of alum. mesh to keep crud out
- cut out outline of old air filter and created a spacer to place under the air filter (increased air box volume and lifted the filter off the stacks, cut out the lids for the slide air feed chamber from the old filter as well and taped them in place)
adjusted jetitng slightly to compensate for two mods above
- installed the Krankvent (applies a partial vacuum to sump)
- removed the hugger and painted it satin black
- installed stain black sticker wrap on fork lowers
- replaced the rectifier/regulator with a MOSFET-type Shindengen FH012AA (if for no other reason than to protect my HRC box from a possible meltdown)
- replaced sidestand with unit from 2004 CBR1000RR (longer and lighter)
- replaced reservoir covers with carbon units
- replaced tank cap with black and blue quarter-turn unit
- replaced bar-end mirror lenses (one was broken due to bike falling over)

Mods to do:
- install recently purchased Akra high-level link pipes (after applying a coat of VHT black paint)
- paint (satin black) and install high-mount hangers
- replace Shindy/Daytona steering damper with soon-to-arrive (I hope) Ohlins unit
- mod airbox (similar to what Tony did, by removing all the internal piping and relocating the breathers externally; have a spare airbox awaiting surgery, lol) - more of an experiment than anything (although it may deliver a bit more power, time will tell)
- replace tank pad (previous one, which has been removed, was well past its due date)
- replace front axle with Ti unit (had it treated with dry-film lubricant to prevent galling and seizing to bearing races)
- repack cans (have Akra kits waiting to go in)
- replace stock horn with Hella snail-type
- get a dyno read to see how it all works together :) (shooting for 130 bhp and 80 lb-ft....)

I have to get around to weighing the old girl too (suspect it must be close to, or just under, 400 lbs wet....

Oh yes, and snap a few shots of the finished product (going for a stealthy and discreet look (aka a "sleeper"), hence the sticker removal and black paint/bits)

cheers

I might put some more petrol in it, and then possibly some more petrol, ad infinitum...

I was just interested! I've done a bit of Lightwave 3D stuff in the past, mostly film/movie orientated though.

So if you manage to get the rearsets sorted, would it be possible to post some kind of drawings from all dimensions with the measurements. Then we can go to an engineering firm (or Benny  ) and get some made up for a quarter of the price of what Gilles or Harris charge? Obviously your mate will only be able to make so many.

i say mate, i mean ex colleage who can set a machine up and run off a good few sets but i could provide some drawings which normally would cost a bomb but im nice!

this is all academic of course until someone has the kindness or decency to loan out a set ( im actually thinking harris or gilles, not so sure of the coerce but i would do if they were there) then i can get cracking

Couple of little projects planned for this year.
I'm fed up with the cost of aftermarket tuning parts, and the rarity of decent parts availability.
So:
1. Frame extender/rearset mounts designed and manufactured. Design's done in my head, I now need some 10mm sheet ali to start cutting some templates. If all goes to plan they'll take any manufacturer's early Blade rearsets, so the choice would be yours. The will also structurally reinforce the swingarm pivot for the guys with tuned engines. I'll get some made for sale on here.

2. Copy Yeti's loaned Stage 2 system in stainless, possibly also in Ti but cost may prove the limiting factor here. I'll get several sets made, and more would be easy if demand exceeds supply.
But on mine I want to machine out the exhaust ports and have them re-welded so that there is an oval port in order to flow gas better. If you look into the exhaust port you'll understand why. Obviously I'll also need an adapted downpipe both ends to connect to the system.

3. Completing diagnostic work and fixing the clutch grab issue.
I think I'm on to something; just need to rebuild the clutch yet again to test it out.
But if I'm right, it'll be a simple fix. Then get into the tens on the drag strip.

In order to achieve these projects I have made a jig, consisting of a frame; swing arm; upper and lower crankcase halves; sump and heads, so that accurate positioning can be guaranteed, and a perfect fit.
Oh, and am buying a trailer from Yeti to cart it around the manufacturers getting quotes.

Please don't ask for cost of parts yet, it's all in the early stages of development but I'll post progress as soon as I make any.

I love a little play about with oily bits, me.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
