i have the upmost respect for motorbike couriers riding in central london, these idiots behind the wheel just don't look anymore

The most fun job ever, I have had so many like that you would not believe. You do get used to it and pick up a third sense for those sort of drivers and then anticipate it. Well try to! But unless you ride like an old woman the odds are against you, and it's not if, it's when.

You won't get away from it that easily, he still monitors the Bay when he's away if previous occasions are repeated! Can't get a bargain even when he's out of the country.

Niiice... I've gotta do my wheels, they are looking tatty, but they can wait for the winter, right now I need them to hold the rubber at both ends.

Did a quick 200. Mile loop into mid Wales. Solihull to Crossgates to Newtown to Knighton to clee hill to droitwitch to stratford then home.

Thank god for heated grips, and the car drivers that flash to warn of the 2 speed traps... But how come 2 bikers didnt

Used the B4355 to go from south of Newtown to Knighton as there was just too many bikes on the honeypot roads and having been past 2 speed traps I knew there would be more on the popular roads. It is a great road through stunning countryside, but you have to go a bit slower but still ideal for a big V2. My mate was on his KTM smt and was impressed how well the storm with its clipon riding position coped with the narrower winding roads.
But just to remind us that we were in Wales a whole flock of sheep came running out through a gate onto the road in front of us when we were just 30 yds away on a straight. That got the heart racing....!

Then I managed 120miles till the lamp cameon (16l tank) despite some very spirited riding.

Tried Nitromors, utterly useless, wouldn't strip wallpaper.
This is the stuff http://www.frost.co.uk/automotive-paint ... quart.html no messing about.

I used hammerite special metals etch primer, 2 coats of high build primer rubbed down, 2 coats of red hammerite smoothrite (thinned out with 20% thinner) and a final thick coat of hammerite to a warm wheel. All sprayed on with a mini HVLP gun.

Masking was done with insulting tape, easier to form round the curved sections and when pulled off leaves a defined paint edge, not smudged like masking tape.

Polished with 1500 grit wet and dry, then a sisal mop in the drill then buffing mop with autosol and hand buffed.
I left the polished section bare alloy, hate it when the laquer chips and corrosion sets in, at least this way I can give it a quick once over with belgom alu to keep it fresh.

It was a lot of work but I think it looks well

Yes we got lucky, as it was we caught the edge of a sleet shower !! just as we turned off onto that B road to start heading east again, but as the cloud was coming in from the west we manged to stay in front of it all the way home.
