2nd gear, 4000 rpm, dip the clutch, open the throttle a bit more and bang the clutch out again and up it comes in a controllable arc of male pride :D
This is not as brutal as it sounds

Always cover the back brake and grip the tank with your knees if it comes down faster than you planned, saves your baldrocks meeting the tank.

Step and repeat till perfected

Beware of prolonged wheelies tho, your robbing the front end of oil.

i find roll of the throttle in 2nd then snap it open and its up, without using the clutch.
not a big fan of wheelies on the road meself though used to be a demon for them on crossers lol.
most of the wheelies i do are entirely accidental, usually on bends lol! 8O

i find it harder to get the sp to wheely in a controlled way, probs cos i dont abuse it as much as the storm, but on a sporty ride it will come up between gears, first to sencond, second to third, power wheelies

feels different on the sp when you snap the throttle, it just digs i and takes off rather than pivoting on the back wheel, probably cos of the longer wheelbase?
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I've only done one, I was joining the A303 and maxed it to get out in front of a car, when I went for second the front wheel dropped back down and met the road again! I nearly shat myself!!

Used to be able to wheelie my 350 Suzuki Beamish trials bike, but haven't the confidence or talent to do it on the VTR!!

Just don't make this mistake http://filmy.scigacz.pl/honda_vtr_1000_wheelie_crash

The only wheelies I have done on the VTR are small ones by giving it a handull in first. When I try to do it purposely it don't work. When I ride in frustrated mad mode the thing just pops up. I love it

Have fun

I can't even wheelie a mountain bike...

Best one I ever did was on the R1, gave it a quick twist of max throttle in 1st and it came straight up so I thumped it back down again before I hurt myself.
I think I'm too old to learn now, the risk of damaging myself or the bike is starting to heavily outweigh the desire to be able to do it.
Saying that though, this is my first ever V twin so we'll see what happens over Summer (assuming we get one)
