They don't fly far without them....
Why ask... sometime you just go to do it and find out?

Maybe a dimpled bike might be a good mod :cool2

Seriously, gas flowing is often better when left slightly rough, especially nearer the transition of surfaces or edges.

But mirror polish does look much, much better.....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

apparently the reason for that is the air moves faster over a mirrored surface than the fuel so it upsets the atomistion of the fuel/air mix.
the way to go is smooth it out then sandblast the port for a uniform surface

mirror polish on the exhaust ports though ;)
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

tony,

Are you still having fuelling problems, is she still running lean. I was chatting to my old man about it and said you were getting these problems. Whilst working on old Webber carbs on rally cross cars he said it may not be that you don’t have enough fuel, because you have open the air box up to allow more air in you are not pulling enough fuel in, the only way to do this would be to restrict the trumpets slightly to increase the air flow velocity into the carbs and thus pull more fuel in with it.

this is how to get the thing to work with no lid, note the disclaimer suggesting not to remove the snorkel. id imagine it is the same deal with messing about with it. infact, this is the 2nd place ive seen which says not to mess with the snorkel:

heres the first one i came across that stated not to mess with the snorkel
