When I started it was Avon squares, K82s and if you were lucky TT100s for proddy racing .Then came along Pirelli Phantoms which changed everything.Any good rider could hang off like Kenny and a lot of us used them in place of race tyres on TZs.Not so much the rubber had changed but the carcass of the tyre and it was only real racers that could heat a tyre and burn the edges off.Now in the last few years I have found with sports tires I can do this all too easily which is not down to great riding but what the tires are now made of.Some of this rubber is so soft and powders so easily I could bald a tyre off in less than one hundred miles. What is my main worry is how easily these tyres split and damage due to road debrie.Small stones sink straight in and cause splits .I understand new tyres contain higher silicon and less rubber which probably makes them softer but less hardy and I should think also cheaper to make.
Has any one tried Dunlop Sportsmarts ,I am told these are fairly hard wearing.
Tyres
Re: Tyres
These are on mine at the moment and for the first time for many years I'll probably put the same on again when they (finally) wear out.
Great wet/damp grip and fast warm-up, coped with a track day as well.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: Tyres
Yes thanks fellas I' going go with them ,the Bridgestones I have been using are great sports tyres but come apart on East Lincolnshires roads. Before the BT56 came along I would only have used European tyres as I remember when Jap tyres had the nick name of 'cheap Johnys' so maybe I'll be using Chinese ones soon.
