new firestorm owner

Post by floydy »

Hi Firestormers, i've just invested in a firestorm 2001 vintage any interesting info would be most helpfull, especially how much wear shows on the disks and at what mileage as mine has had a new speedo and no history and would just like to check if the owner was telling me porkies!. The bike runs very well no smoke or rattles chain half worn, disks showing some wear the rest of the bike is in excellent condition bt02's. I've been told about the camchain tensioners and someone suggested dynojet kit and k&n filter is this worthwhile or cost effective, what about exhaust cans any recomendations? thats enough to get on with
many thanks Floydy

Welcome on board Floydy :D
You could try posting a couple of pics of the disc to give us an idea of wear and a mileage to cross referance against but a lot depends on type of pads used and how it was ridden.
As long as the engine sounds good and the cosmetics are ok it's probably not had a hard life, check all the bearings as well and if that checks out don't worry about it
I'd definately recomend an after market pipe they sound great

Cans

Hi Floydy,
Just read this post. Take a peek at mine on the forum lightweight wheels where I mention my experiences on cans and Dyno jet kits. Hope it helps!

Hi Stormers thanks for all the replys i'm not sure if the camera will pick up the discs very clearly as my camera is pants but i would say that looking at the outer face is worn by about 1mm sorry anyone reading this will have to refer to my original message thanks Floydy
