wanted, someone with small hands

Post by agentpineapple »

calm down you pervs, it's not what you think....
i'm suffering from kev syndrome otherwise known as walls bangers fingers!!!!!
i've refitted my undertray, but my hands/fingers are to big to put a nut on to tighten it up, so i can't go for a ride in this lurverly weather.
i can't even take the undertray off and go for a ride because my number plate and indis are attached to it :x
so as the title suggest i need someone with small hands, i'd prefer this person to be a women dressed rather sexy but beggars can't be choosers
i do have a machine mart only 100 yds away tho, so any suggestions on a tool that can access an awkward spot and the tighten a nut/bolt socket based item i'd say???

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

no chance of getting to it with that wicky, these are the two bolts that go up from underneath the rear subframe, the 2 main lug holes on the bottom of the rear fairing
maybe this with a small socket piece on the end, being magnetic would help aswell

I have large hands like you Marty. The way I overcame this problem was to use slightly longer bolts once the nut was on the bolt it was easy to get a finger or two to hold the nut while tightening the bolt

Use captive nuts.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I think captive nuts in this day and age is barbaric and cruel, they should be allowed to roam free in the garage as nature intended.

When I was a 16yr old on the farm, I used to end up having to deliver the calves when the cow was breach, or still born, as I had the longest arms in the family and small hands to get the ropes onto the unborn calves legs to help pull it out! ....not the nicest job, but someone has to do it :( !..................I could help....but I live too far away and you might get frightened if I turned up with rubber gloves and a calving jack!

hold the nut in the end of a ring spanner with putty or some thing like that. or put a bit of gaffer tape on the back of the ring spanner to hold the nut inside until you can catch the thread by turning the bolt.

That's an interesting one for the toolbox collection there Dragon. I suppose it could be adapted for sockets as well. Might have to get one of those as it's so cheap. Though on this occasion I think it may be too fat a shaft without enough flex to get the angles. The subframe will be in the way.

I fitted BSM's undertray the last time and the only way I could do it was with patients and holding the nut between the tips of two fingers. I then have to place those fingers over the top of the outside of subframe bar from the inside and carefully just catch it on the thread underneath. Once the bolt has been placed through the rear fairing and undertray IIRC it comes out just underneath on the edge of the subframe bar. Fiddly bloody job.

I'm popping over there this week to sort it out for him, so hopefully it will be sorted.

My fingers can work miracles, I can even get them in to thread the front cylinder vaccum hose adapter.

Have Fun.
