Replacements for the instrument cluster

I'd like to have a look at a replacement set

SP1 looks like an option and Canadian Mike has done one or is finishing one :-)

Any one fitted any thing else? Dont mind making a inter connect loom. But what would need changing? Temp sensor for one thing I would have thought.

This should be interesting. Obviously one needs the schematics for whichever instrument cluster one decides to have. Then there is the speedo accuracy which is easily sorted with a speedo heeler. I should imagine neutral, oil, temperature and indicators warning lights are easyish as well.
Revs is the tricky one, I'm looking forward to see how Mik gets on with his, if/when he finds a solution. Then if the dash has a digital fuel level (not just a reserve light) how can an earlier Storm be converted to make use of it.

Looking forward to seeing where the is leads.

Speedo should be easy enough, AFAIK all Hondas use a 7:1 ratio.
Electronic rev counter is a bit more tricky, you could make a converter by counting the LT side trigger pulses and dividing down (as there will be two per crankshaft rev) or fitting a sensor on the crankshaft somewhere to trigger it once per revolution.
A simple magnet and sensor should be fine, mounting on the clutch side or alternator side is possible.
I'd have thought that a tiny magnet on the outside of the clutch basket would be a good choice, with the sensor screwing in through a small tapped hole in the clutch cover.

Temp sensor is easy, just get one mounted in a length of coolant pipe and cut'n'shut it into the coolant system anywhere- the long cranked pipe that runs from the thermostat housing out through the frame to the top of the LH rad should be an easy option, or in line with one of the long pipes that join the rads across the front of the engine.

Most of the cluster manufacturers have a range of sensors available to fed their instruments.

I do like the standard clocks and the only thing I would change is the speedo colour to white I'm not a fan off this new age digital stuff
