Do they allow barbacues at Oulton Park?
Re: Do they allow barbacues at Oulton Park?
Ref carbon monoxide from barbacues, a woman at works husband did classic bike racing and brought his barbacue into his tent. He doused it with water first and left it for 2 hours before putting it in his tent. In the morning he was dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. Tragic and it only happened last year.

Why did he take it into his tent if it was correctly doused? you would have just just left it out side with soil and water on it.Image wrote:Ref carbon monoxide from barbacues, a woman at works husband did classic bike racing and brought his barbacue into his tent. these things have instructions printed with them.
I've used them loads of times as they are intended but never been dumb enough to put one inside a tent lit, smouldering or other
house fires have a chimney and flu for a reason.
It is indeed tragic that a man should loose his life for something so trivial.

Re: Do they allow barbacues at Oulton Park?
i think it has been down the the recent cold spell and people think it may be a good idea to use said bbq's as heaters.....
well who would want to cook in a tent in the first place.....trying to sleep with the smell of over cooked bangers and burgers would do me in before the carbon monoxide got to me..

Seb, the reason he took it in his tent was to stop it getting nicked as had happened before. He thought it would be ok as it was totally out (as in unlit) and it was in the porch of his tent and he was in one of the bedroom compartments. Ref him being dumb as you say, I think you should appreciate that 17 months ago very few people knew about the poison hazard of barbacues. It was very sad and his family are still trying to come to terms with it.

If some one wants to rob my BBQ that badly they can just take it or i would have used a disposable, my self I would have tied or chained it to a wheel as a deterrent if it was something i wanted to keep
I wouldn't have thought a fully doused BBQ would still leach carbon monoxide? wouldn't it be released as a by product when still burning / smouldering
