White looks striking, but you will forever be cleaning them. I had mine done the same colour as the late model engine cases, bronzey/gold, and I reckon that would look good on yours.

I have gold on mine and I think it looks great. Hammerite smooth spray can did the job. I have a spare set of wheel that Im gonna get powdercoated when I get the chance.

I fancied gold but I showed a red bike on here to the wife and she said it looked horrid.Halfords do a anthracite which looks like the original (on the cap) so I' going to try that with plenty of lacquer. The quality of the paint in cans has gone down hill in recent years, acrylic is not very tough.I used to like Simoniz Spectra Engine Enamel which is polyurethane , covers ,lasts and takes heat superbly but can no longer source it.

I used Plastikote enamel and lacquer from B&Q. Only 100mm cans but twenty quid should do it. Tough stuff.
