Low Rida
I want to lower my 2002 VTR1000 Superhawk. I need the back lowered as much as possible, but will lower front if needed also. I have checked every motorcycle shop here in Tulsa Oklahoma, USA. Please help. I use ebay...

i need the same mate, mines droped at the front, but not sure about doing the rear, did my old R6 by fitting a shorter link bar from shock to swing arm, but vtr set up is different, cos the block is attached to the swingarm. Let me know if you come up with any ideas.

You could always try elongating the holes in the top shock mount
The bit that bolts horizontally onto the top of the shock which then has the single vertical bolt that screws up into the frame
But bear in mind that you'll DEFINITELY need to sort the ground clearance ASAP coz mine is limited with a 5mm spacer on top of the shock

i went for the boot option in the end, my local cobbler put an extra 10mm on my soles of me boots, adjusted my brake lever and gear lever and im away, but it limits the feel you get when changing down or using rear break. I locked the rear up loads before i could get used to it.
Some laugh when i tell em, but they would never have known otherwise. And eventualy you forget its there too. Still on me tippy toes though. lol

Very funny about the wooden boots. I had an SV650S, I have to say it fit me better, but the HAWK is so powerful. Been riding it for two years now. My friend has GSXR1000, he put lowering kit on it for about $100 installed. I really would like after market part or one that is custom made for VTR1000. Really its just the new style over here in the USA, but would probably be more comfortable, for me.

For that sort of money you could buy an aftermarket shock set to whatever length you like!!

superchicken, just get your seat sit at home, pick the staples out one by one, making sure they stay intact. Then take the seat sponge and turn it on its back rough side up. Carefully using a long craft knife scoop out as much as you dare, blending from front to back, so if on a long run you can push ya ass back and gain comfort. Then once its even and your happy turn it right way up and place on the seat base. Do not glue it down, this will cause a sagg once the covering is on. Replace the cover while holding the sponge in place and if you dont have a staple gun, use pliers and push the old staples back in, i used araldite as well just inside the edge. The final product should be a seat when sat on it lets you sink into it and when you climb off it goes back to its original shape. Then go to the cobblers and get em to put an extra 10mm on ya boots. Once this is done, you will need to adjust your gear lever to make up for your boot and also the fact that your leg will be bent more causing difficulty shifting up. Mines been like this for ages, and i do it with every bike, just means i have to purchase a new seat before selling again.
