Why are Firestorms so cheap?

Post by firestorm996 »

Keep quiet guys. If the storm wasn't such a well kept secret I'd have had to spend my £1300 on a tatty bandit 600 instead of getting 1 litre of lumpy goodness :-)

I agree with everything you guys say, I went out last weekend on my old mans new FZ6 this boast 98bhp and I was expecting goodness once ringing its neck cause of having a detuned R6 engine. I was disapponted with the performance, you open the throttle and sit waiting for the revs to rise. When I do this with the storm I am hangin on, stopping it lifting its head and concentrating on the scenery coming at me faster and faster.

All I can say I was happy to get back on the old girl, she felt more stable than the Fazer and could put it where I liked, and when I got home the only word I could used to describe the storm was `brutal' I did not realise this until getting on another bike for an hour.

My ony grip with the storm is that I will fbe hard to give her up as I dont believe there would be nothing out there other than an SP that has such a high grin to grand ratio.

When I first got rid of my storm the first time, I done it because of many different reasons, I really wanted another cruiser and the Cam chain tensioners played on my mind, and I didnt really have the facilities to change them myself, so I would have had to pay.

However I didnt realise how good the bike was untill I got rid of it, and if I had known I was going to get a Harley I would have deffinatley kept the Storm.

The next bike I get will most probably be brand new, but my sportster and Firestorm will not be going anywhere, as for fuel capacity my Harley only has a little tank and can be worse than the firestorm if you use it for small journeys.

The thing, out of all the jap bikes, Hondas are usually the ones that get good returns on depreciation, and it just seems wierd and a little sad how undervalued the Storms are, when we all know they are great bikes, despite any flaws.

Mate, i'm supprised it got that, ANY bike with over 30K miles on its pretty much seen as being worn out and worthless to most people, who are used to bike that only get used sunday for 20 miles pending weather, which is about 90% of the biking world.

I stand by my words :p
