good question - if the performance is that much better then you would be quids in after 4-5 years and, in theory, a healthier engine????

there are some doubts about filter efficiency compared to std paper filter. Increased oil flow helping the engine when start doesn´t seem relevant, I believe all oil filters have valve opening the filter, when engine oil have sufficient pressure.

I work in the filtration industry of petro chemicals and we get asked this by clients all the time, reusable filters are good idea but flawed.
Yes they are cleanable, but from our experience the filter once cleaned never return back to its original unused condition, therefore its life will be reduced slightly, then once cleaned again you further reduce the life of the filter, all the while you are increasing the chance of damaging the element and thus reducing efficiency and change out time.
On our equipment this is okay as we use differential pressure instruments to see when the filter is clogging up and needs cleaning, but with the bike your are changing it periodically or at a set mile range, if the filter manufacturer has designed the filter for 4000miles before changing, after 3 or 4 cleans you could have reduced this significantly, and thus the filter could stop working well before your periodic filter clean.
IMO use disposable quality filters both air and oil, and dont use sub standard quality. You will not get the level of inspection and consistancy of quality control, I always use Hi Flo as this is what Honda use, or if they are on offer original Honda filters. There is one important thisng needed to keep a bike happy, regular oil changes.

The only positive I can think of is that the mesh is magnetic, that's about it. Just as air filters that flow more air will let through more particulate, oil filters flowing more oil will miss more also. You would have to look into the max size particles both types let through to be certain, but I'll be sticking with good quality standard filters
