Great fun at Isle of Man TT

Post by Image »

Travelled there in style on my mates yacht so harnessed the wind for free and had plush free accomodation afloat while we were there. Missed having my storm with me at the Isle of Man though :( What a piss up. The pubs and beer tents were a great laugh. Incredible amount of foreign bikes there. Very predictable bike choices, the Germans mostly had beemers, the Italians Ducatis and Aprillias and the French, Belgium etc mainly rode adventure bikes. Bikers pretty much took over the island. Got so pissed I woke up on the yacht with a hang-over from hell.

Oh yeah, and the racing was good as well LOL.
Who else was there?

To meet at the Snake Pass Inn for a hot soup and buttered roll would be a good call
A nice open fire there to dry your gear off.

Didn't even make into Glossop! My cunning route home took us over every high peak and reservoir in north Yorkshire and with the high winds, low cloud and rain it became a marathon with every road taking us into the cloud and mist making progress slow, wet and cold.....all 3 bikes were full loaded with gear, so we were all catching the wind!

So by 6pm, my mate started to get worried about his girlfriend getting too tired fighting her bike against the wind and going round all the harpin bends that resembled rivers, so we did a U turn when we were heading from Holmforth towards Glossop, and I left them at a B&B :( and once I had found a petrol I headed towards Sheffield and got on the M1 to fight the gale force winds and just grind the miles to go home. Long day

An epic journey but it's journeys like that that hone your riding skills. Glad it ended up with a safe and happy ending. Next time come with me on the yacht, it's safer and drier, LOL.

This is the route I had put together using some of my best routes and also the BIKE - 8 route [BIKE Magazine].

I think if the weather is good this will be an amazing run, so I plan to go back.

Superb video that manages to capture all the TT is about. Opening sequence is absolutely spot on
Got to ask Simon, is it your vid or just a good find?

in our foggy ride home I came down this road with about 30ft visibility, and I completly sh1t myself when out of the fog appeared 3 foot waves right beside the road.............it was like I was in an old Horror film like American Werewolf.

had to look on google earth to workout what the hell it was as it is not often you find a road and water this close with no wall, especially when you are inland and right up on the hill tops, the waves wre because the gale force winds, but it was seriously spooky
