G-Pro29 wrote:Cheers guys however annoying the post was I found it interesting the difference in consumption that people get according to the way they ride.

One thing I have learnt is to reset my trip and monitor it until I get used to it.
I don't know a storm owner who has the ODO showing, we only ever ride with the trip meter showing, and we never fill the bike up on the side stand as you can get an extra liter in if you fill it when fully upright... Get to 95miles on the trip and start looking for petrol stations

You will soon learn

I did actually try and find out before I posted the thread but had no luck, so thought I would ask the obvious people that would know, didn't mean to open a can of worms or anything.

I'll think twice about asking advice in the future.

Well I'm glad I posted the thread to be honest as I'm new to the storm and it's my first v-twin and last bike I had was a gsxr 600 so it's very different, I never used the trip on that so I wouldn't of used the trip on my storm if I hadn't of posted this thread and read all the comment so thanks guys.

Anyway I've got all the info I need so that enough about fuel consumption from me :D

Once you've had an XR650 (70 miles to reserve) or a husaberg 501 (55 miles to reserve) the Storm is not a problem ;-)

see, thats what happens.... they buy a firestorm (or other 1000cc v twin) after owning a 600 IL4 and then moan about the fuel consumption.

mate on his ducati 1098 on the euro trip was getting 80 miles to the tank, not just reserve. 8O

on my sp2 i only saw the fuel light once and that was after hooning it on the a500 at speeds that wouldve got me banned in the uk.... even then there was 118 on the clock.
most of the times i was seeing 120+ miles (even 131) before filling and didnt see the fuel lamp :)
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Blimey, the poor chap has only been here 5mins :eh: I'm glad you didn't get frightened off G-Pro29

The problem is were paying far to much for petrol IMHO. I never used to think about it very much when I could fill the tank (16L) back up from the red light for a tenner 8O

I'm not going anywhere I'm here for the long haul, it's my first v-twin and wow what a machine, I've stripped it to bits, serviced it and the fairings are off for spraying tomorrow :D

I can live with whatever fuel consumption I get as the grin i get on my face will always out weigh the pain of refilling it anyday, once refilled I'll be grinning again within minutes.

I got no regrets at all and thanks for all the messages.
