How useful are VTR full bellypans?

How important/useful is the full VTR1000 belly pan. Seen a few and they look great but how fundamentally useful are they?

IMO With regards to aerodynamics and drag, I don't think that matters so much unless your racing doing silly speeds. And I don't know how much difference there is between a full belly pan/lower fairing compared to a Moriwaki style or similar. I think it's more about the looks really, but do take into consideration the extra heat gathered down there, they can melt a bit if not protected.

Minimal functional benifits, only ornemental....it might protect the starter motor a it more, but that's about all.

If you were racing you would need the Moriwaki type fitted to act as an oil catch tray, but for road use you need drain holes to stop it filling with water.
