They should make it law that all bikes and car manufactures print the BHP figures at the wheel not the crank
mate at work was asking how much power the storm has so i told him i would expect little over 100 at the back wheel he was like ahh that's wombles fiddler, my 98 R1 had 150 bhp blahhhh blahhh blahhhh when in fact when tested at the rear wheel the 98 R1 was 129 bhp at the wheel
2002 -2003 model had a claimed 152bhp, but on test showed 127bhp at the wheel
Yes 129 is a lot more than 105 ish? but 150 is a lot more than 129 also
Like ducati banging on about the 1199 ohhh 200bhp 200 bhp, when it was tested it was like 170 something at the wheel or 180 few month back
It's misleading for idiots
Left my mates scooby doo a while ago for dead, he was giving it all this 280bhp sh1t i said you have go to get that through a big ass transmission / gearbox and then through a heavy four wheel drive system then through four big wheels onto the ground it wont be making all that power at the wheels, it wont touch my bike unless were going round wet round abouts , eggs as eggs it was left behind.

Re: Power Law
Not forgetting that some power outputs are measured in BHP, and some in PS...
Naturally as mine is orange it has 297bhp at the crank. The Black and Teal chain accounts for a loss of 195bhp to the back wheel....

Power Law
I thought it was a standard that they quoted power at the crank? It's just the idiots who turn that into a 'wheel' figure!

Re: Power Law
as soon a people start playing top trumps on power numbers I walk away, I cant be arsed dealing with people who think that makes them big or fast or clever......truth is it just confirms they are tossers, and they are consuming oxygen that could be better used to burn atomised fuel
lifes too short, I would rather go ride my bike than debate with idiots........100bhp at the back wheel is more than enough for any good road rider........and too much for some!
power is nothing without control, and the control starts in your brain.............and as you brain controls your mouth, if you talk sh1t your riding will probabaly reflect that
just a little rant to get you all started

Totally agree with all above.
There should be laws for these sort of marketing techniques though, because that's all it is, and it's misleading/false advertising.

Considering that the readings vary between dynos, seems to me you're flogging a dead horse.....

Shame bikes don't similarly follow Moore's law (Engine output doubles approx every 2 years)

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
