Re: Urgh insurance set back
The other thing to take into consideration is that the insurance probably see the blade as a more popular bike and therefore more lucrative to thieves and being stolen. Also the blade could have a reputation for being responsible for a lot of deaths. IMO this is also because of it's popularity. So basically it has a bad reputation.
And yes age does make a difference. But do shop around Seb as for example, you could get a quote of £500 from one company and £200 from another. It's a bit of a hit or miss business...

Re: Urgh insurance set back
I am old and max no claims but an realy suffering as a result of my last conviction for overtaking on solid white line. At the time I thought I was getting off lightly as I was doing 3 figure speeds to make sure I got the overtake before the white lines kicked in, so thought 3 points was a good compromise, but turns out it is classed as dangerous driving and both cars and all bikes have gone up, so it is costing me about £300 extra if I add up all policies
If you ride with me now you will notice I obay the solid white line rules, but I am closing the door after the horse has bolted

Re: Urgh insurance set back
Shop a round, I bet you can find a cheaper quote. I only pay £92 on the storm. Thats third party f & t. 27 with 7 yrs no claims.
Are you going for fully comp?
Are you going for fully comp?
Re: Urgh insurance set back
Fully comp sometimes works out cheaper than third party. I had that with my fazer, bizzare I know and it don't seem logical. Don't ask me how they work that one out.Are you going for fully comp?

ill do some proper searching shortly but just had a quick mooch with current insurer MCE
Really torn as i think both bikes are Fantastic the RR7 Being the last of the Under seat exhaust blades, the last proper man size blade before they made the fairings bloody tiny and gave the Blade a snub nose
and the SP2 what can you say, Fantastic, I do like it but think it too is getting a bit dated now but just don't know if i could do the 4cl machine so should i stick with a Twin??
ideally i would have a 1098 but budget wont stretch that far.

Re: Urgh insurance set back
Cheapest i could find is £750 Third-party Fire & Theft or £580 Third Party Only (8000 miles, including commuting) that's using Bike Insurer website and its MCE
Really struggling with the thought of selling or breaking the storm its been such a labour of love (and hate) at times but itching for something that just works right
This Lurching / stalling at low revs taking off is doing my tit's in now also, need to get it on a dyno machine but that's just more money at around 250 quid marker
That cowbow CU*T at V-twin has put sh1t bearings in the front they are going already!! and he has wombles up the seals too so will need to order some of them, it's just a money pit lately this bike.
Think if i can get a black back wheel it will look better as it will suit the front black 954 one too
