why are storms so cheap?
ive had a few bikes and by far the best one ive had is the storm. its alot like my cbr 600 f, but has so much more tourqe. the build quality is typical honda (go on forever). compared to my last bike, a 97' bandit, its miles better. fair enough people get put off by cct failure, but jeasus christ i paid 1200 quid for a pretty much mint 1000cc bike. once you get some manual cct's on and keep it serviced i bet these things will go on forever. checked today and mines even got a new fanned rectifererererer. i personaly think the styling is timeless too, i mean its an old bike but if you dont know bikes you wouldnt know it was 14 years old. bloody well chuffed with mine cant wait to start pooring money into it
anyone know why these bad boys are so cheap? seems crazy to me

Because they are a bit pants, never a proper sports tourer never a super sports, not got the grunt and status of a TL1000, and at the time of launch a poor man's Duke who wanted a better built bike than the suzuki, the 90's vtwin boom was short lived.
It's only people that have owned a storm that don't over look them and know there merits
If the storm had a large tank from the start I think it would have been a different story, 21ltr would have made it a fantastic B road mile muncher
But then it would have taken sales from the VFR so it was never going to work with the blade as the sports option and the VFR as the sports tourer
Pants suspension doesn't help resale either, and it's a heavy lump too till you swap bits

They weren't the most expensive when new, they were built in Spain and don't have the same quality of finish as Jap built bikes. They tend to go a bit cheaper as that era twins are a bit out of fashion now.. build quality is not really any better than a bandit, the same stuff corrodes over winter, ie engine cases, brake fittings etc, thin paint on the wheels doesn't help. they hardly changed the model through it's life which means older ones are pretty much just the same and keep prices of all years down. they didn't make a big deal of the later bigger tank model so people believe they all run out of gas at 100 miles. CCT problems aren't generally known about if you don't own one so i don't think that keeps prices down, fitting manuals is good if your mechanically minded and know how to maintain them but i don't think they're a selling point, the stopper mod sounds much better, just fit and forget until it rattles, then fit new ones, they cost less than a chain & sprocket set.

Oh yeah that aswell, how they let a bike be released with such crap forks and unforgiving shock i'll never know

TL1000's were supossed to be much faster and gruntier, i've ridden them and i don't think they are, also had a mate with one and on speed and roll ons mine and his were always side by side, he was lighter than me too.

i looked into getting a TL1000 but didnt trust the built quality lol (and there all a bit more exspensive). ive heared a few people say suspension is shite, i havnt been getting my knee down yet or anything but ive given it some stick and so far i think its up to the job, i commute on mine so i dont really want it rock hard. i had a 750 vfr and i just thought it was just...bleh, boring, nice to ride but just wasnt for me. sappose it like anything, down to personal taste

220 for me third party only and that's living in London. But I am well past the 25 mark. I believe 25 is the last big drop for insurance. If I was out in the sticks it would be half that price.

Who have you gone with?so wombles knows. as long as i'm insured and its cheap i dont care lol. on my 600 bandit i was insured to ride any other bike but i think if the cc is above 600 you have to be over 27.
