Just cleaning out this set of carbs i have got thanks to Jazz on his buy now pay later scheme
Just cleaned them al out got them all shiny inside like new and put jets in, it all ready has 48's pilots so cleaned those as one was partially blocked too, ive put Dynojet 190's mains in, will see how that goes with the Pipercross
Just attempting to get the needles out but cant figure it out??
Use one of the screws from the diaphragm cover and screw the thread into the square centre bit in the middle of the diaphragm and gently pull and wiggle. When doing it though, it's best to hold it so the needle is in the upright position so pulling downward. Maybe put a finger over the end so it don't shoot out with the force. You won't loose the washers then and you can see the order it all comes out.
And if your Dynojetting I would not bother with the extra hole they want you to drill in the slide.

Have you tried the HRC route covering one of the holes as the front to reduce / slow lift speed?
Does that only work with Stock Stacks or will it work the same with Two long, i remember reading ages ago HRC had a slide with one hole at the front instead of two to reduce / slow the opening on the front as the front stack being shorter created more vacuum than the rear and was opening sooner
I have not tried it yet Seb but am considering it. According to, either hawk or hawkrider in the states with two long stacks block 1 hole in each carb.
Its getting the mixture right that is not easy unless with the proper tool. With 48's I would try 2 1/4 turns out on the front and 2.5 on the rear then see how she idles and revs. Don't forgot the carb balance as well.

It only works with the short stacks or the billet Dr.Honda\HPower\Moriwaki stacks. With the long stacks you want to run 2 lift holes.

Well at least you got the name pretty close..... but happy to clear up any question you guys have about the lift hole configuration.
Long stacks = 2 holes, Short stacks\Aftermarket stacks = 1 hole
