did post last night but seems to have disapeared. anyway big thanks to al and his good lady for their hospitality, and al for showing me the cct mod should be safer now , carl big thanks for stripping carbs and changing settings as you said its a different bike now still a bit of hesitation low down but then smooth right through the range no hole in the middle, wonder if changing pilots to 50s would help as already had 48s in?. Good to meet all you other stormers even if most of us were a bit grey and growing through our hair, we still no how to have a good time, no pipe and slippers here yet thankyou, cheers everybody

Your welcome Noble, the TPS would have smoothed things out as well. If I had the time I would have had that spot on 500  but it's all good as it's within the -10 +10 tolerance.

NO, that would be even harder to get set up right. Most people find the 48's to be quite sufficient.

It will be the mixture screws needing fine tuning. To do this properly the bike needs to be warmed up properly with 15mins of hard heavy riding, no good just letting it idle away until temperature goes up. And then it needs the appropriate tool to get in and adjust the mixture by ear with the bike running.

The mixture screws will probably need turning 1/16 to 1/2 turn in one direction or another.

:Finger: wombles off the lot of you   am I getting a reputation or what  you all need to mechanically tune your ears in.

Most entertaining part of the day for me was watching Lloydie warming up his tyres on the ride out. The only other tyres I have seen with that much wear on them is on Yeti's Mori race bike. Bloody marvellous.

The front is but not the rear .
I went down to fish hill today .
And nearly lost the rear as it went off the edge lol .
I'm about 10mm on the front now and getting marbles on it :-)
But I had found a flaw in my corner technique .
I'm wasnt pulling the bike down with my outside leg instead I'm gripping the bars to tight and pulling the inside bar in words .
Two more trips up the hill and I was dragging my knees :-) the bike felt more stable and the speeds were better .

lots of fun on fish hill  ..........having stomp grip on the tank helps when leaning off as well as braking........having the wide bars on your bike makes it too easy to over do the inputs, I have the same problem when i ride the mad mans KTM 990.

stomp grips theirs a thought
and your right about the bars its very twitchy if you over do it .
i think a damper will help slow down the movement and as it now lifts in 3rd on the power 8)

I got to get my sliders on and some new tyres. :biggrin Do you find yourself counter steering a lot when you lean into the bends. I got some sliders but the velcro doesen't seem to work on them. Can't get them to stick to my leathers. I'm not sure if it's the sliders or the velcro on my leathers that are at fault. :confused I may just glue them or stitch them on.

I could easily get my knee down on some bends but not having the sliiders is holding me back. And then there are times when I overshoot a corner and have to pull on the brakes :eek2 If I had the sliders I would just lean it down and go for it.

With corners it's a case of slowing down enough, being in the right gear (gearbox that is), leaning the bike into the corner but having enough revs to pull you up and through the bend. Oh, and hope you dont hit any grit, sand ot whatever on the bend :eek2 I had one like that this morning. Farm traffic debris.

The one thing that really worries me about knee down corners is my suspension set up is sh1t.

You take it easy Lloydie, be careful mate.

when i want to push it say on fish hill i do a sighting lap first to see what the road condition is like .
and i always drop it down a gear for the corner so i have a good gear on exit of the bend to fire me out of it and onto the next one . i ride with a 05 r1 sometimes and it pisses him off as he cant wind it on as hard as a twin

get it sorted

Good man. Do the storm proud.    the torque wins.

Yeh a bit of double sided tape, I never though of that. Not carpet grippers :eek2

Nice one.
