Anyone got a standard shock for measurements please

Post by popkat »

I've got a Penske shock to fit and the spacers are the wrong size, both top and bottom mounts use a 10mm bolt but the spacers i have with the Penske are 12mm i/d. I'd like to know if there's a sleeve in the top and bottom eyes of the std shock, it'd need to be 1mm thick tube if it's there.

Can't take mine off to look as my hands in plaster til next week, not just being a lazy B**stard

Cheers

I have a Penske in the back of mine and a standard shock at home. If no one else steps up I will measure up for you when I get in mate. If I haven't responded by 9pm the dementure has taken over again so give me another shout !
If you need any bits for the Penske, spring, hoses, decals or clips then Spa design are very good. I rebuilt mine using them.

there is no diameter spacers in the std shock bolts...bolt fits direct into the rod ends.

on my Nitron shock, they have a standard spherical bearing top and bottom, which has a big inner diam, and is only about 10mm wide, so they provide a split spacer which ensures the correct diameter and width for each instalation.

Cheers Kev and Amcq, I rang Penske uk today and they said the split spacers/bushes should be 10mm i/d so i'll be ordering some up. don't know why the previous owner of the shock had 12mm i/d spacers and was using the 10mm bolts so the bolts were pushed up in the holes ?. no damage to the shock though so all shoud be ok.
