Hii Mate

Bennetts were fine, no changes to the insurance policy, but be honest no point in having a spill only to find that they won't pay out. I got my 'storm after quite a break, no NCB and Bennets came up with £220 fully comp, mind you I'm an old bugger.

High levels make such a difference you need to fit 'em but have a chat with the local plod, I spoke to mine and they aren't bothered (that said we only have 2 bike cops covering the whole of the county) about the noise but you don't want to fit 'em and then get into probs with plod. :(

Nice to have "in the club" so to speak

Thats one hell of a quote!! I'm 33 and cheapest fully comp with nil ncb was £500. I had one quote that shot up from £231 to £956 when I discovered I couldn't carry forward my 2 years ncb from 4 years ago!!!!

Out of interest, what high levels have you?

Hi

My cans made no difference to my insurance, they're not road legal but offer no real power increase on their own ;) They took about an hour to fit, but I'm pretty confident mechanically. Have a look here for some more info.

The cans on the bike in the pic you were looking at are Staintunes, I think. I've heard nothing but good reports about them - very good quality though rather loud. You can get baffles to quieten them down a bit. They're considerably more than £220 though.

As for other bit and bobs, it depends what you want from your bike. Apart from the cans, I have a hugger to keep the road crap off the shock, but it looks standard apart from that. I've spent my money upgrading the forks and shock, which are the major problem area with the Firestorm.

What forks and shock set up have you got?

There is a Pyramid hugger fitted already. And I've just bought a bellypan off Ebay like this one http://www.abercon.co.uk/~neilr/pix_vtr/hi-mount1.jpg

Anyone know the make?

Everything else is original.

WP shock, uprated fork springs and heavier fork oil. £500 fitted by MC Technics in Stowmarket. Made a big difference to the handling, and this was on an almost new bike (<2000 miles). If your shock has worn a bit, then it will be even more noticeable.
