6 spoke Wheels

Post by TonyW650 »

I know this is more than likely a silly question.

I can pick up say a cbr900 rear wheel for sub 30 quid theres a few on ebay now, what is it with every 6 spoke front I go after on ebay goes for silly amounts of money?
are they really that rare or what, i bid on them and the price goes silly!

The front are hard to get in good condition and they fit lots of Hondas so every one wants a spare set .

don't forget the front needs to be a 17inch jobby and they're not easy to come by in straight unbuckled condition......

its just annoying, think I'me just about to get one and someone tops my bid by say 20 quid pushing the wheel to almost or in some instances over 100 quid its just silly especially when you look how cheap you can get a rear and theres alot more metal there.
one day I'll get one lol

Thing is with wheels if you hit something the front end gets it, if you t-bone a car it's the front wheel and forks that go, the rear wheel hardly ever gets damaged in accidents so it's economies of scale, plenty of back wheels about so cheaper.

That seems logical to me.

Clearly the trick is, when faced with a certain crash, to lock the back brake and low side the bike, spinning round and sliding into the car / kerb backwards.

if you follow this rule you will be able to get the spares you need for a lower price, or get more money for your bike if you break it for spares....simples

thats similar to what i did in my crash al, except i went for the slightly more elaborate route of doing a massive stoppie so that the rear seat and subframe took the impact, its easy to replace a seat and subframe
i kept both wheels intact, the only downside to this was that i got totally twated aswell, oh well you can't have everything i suppose
