954 Swingarm

Post by seb421 »

Is it possible the a 954 Swing arm can be made to fit like tweety did with the SP2,

SP2 swingarms are rare as they get but there is a fair few 954 swingers always on the bay, and i really do like the look of the 954 unit, would be nice to have the 954 forks with the 954 rear swinger too

has any one tried it before?

just wondering what can be done before i get this blade brace made up

off to sleep now see you lot after dinner for more banter :)

Fingers crossed this swinger will work, saw some info recently that the Spondon Swinger for the Storm also fitted the 954 so hoping it can work

Best do anyway as i have one in the post :)

would be nice to have a 954 front and rear with a storm's heart and soul in the middle

wish i hadn't sold that rear wheel now, dam it.

Not sure about linkage and suspension but sure that can be sorted out at some point

I recall there was a chap who had joined the Superhawk forum and had fit a 929 swingarm to the VTR. While the 929 and 954 swingarm are not identical, I believe the mounting specs are the same so it should work. Your biggest challenge will likely be getting the linkage sorted.....

Thanks I'm well aware of the various bikes with SP1 and SP2 swing arms fitted just want the 954 one on my self, in have all the bits in the attic to make the CBR900RR brace mod but really want to see if the 954 works if it does then I've got more plans for the bike which will be a 954 subframe and rear end

It would be easier and cheeper to just sell your storm and buy a 954

The storms cosmetics have grown on me(no they ain't stuck between my butt cheeks kev ) and i wouldn't change them.
But each to there own i know we all like to make our bikes our own so fair play for doing what you want
how ever i like the 954 swinger and forks these will be a nice addition to improve the storms ride and looks (more modem).abit like the new Norton commando
.
out of interest is the 954 swinger longer than the storms ?

I will measure my dads against mine when I find a tape measure mate, reason for the back end sasp is the massive Bat Cave of storage space in the 954 plus it has a very very comfy seat
I could go and get a 954 tommorw but I've got the Storm bug biting again other than the the seat hight and foot peg position I love the bike I think this time next year it will be a nice bike, also I do like the storms styling it doesn't age like other bikes, look at a 98R1 now and that thing looks embarrassing, and the SV650 the angular restyled one looks dated but the old rounded one still has flowing lines like the storm, timeless

Just had a quick measure with a tape, not the flexible one so couldn't get an accurate measure the storms is about 22 inch, and the 954 23inch or just over but that is to the back of the swinger from the front, there is more scope for wheel adjustment n the 954 so i could put the wheel in the same spot as it currently is on the storms,

Don't know how long the SP2 swinger is but that does look longer than the Storms when on the bike

Will ask tweety how long it is, doesn't look to bad imo

Turned up in the post today, tweety says it will be a problem but I will have a look,
it's pure porn this swinger so so light for such a big swinger, a lot lighter than that stock wombles would be a shame to have to sell it
