Parts help

Post by Ckennedy »

Evening all. Took my exhausts off today to give them a proper clean and there was a fibre gasket of some sort on the lower end on the link pipe which goes onto the header pipe. This gasket is shattered and I now require a new one. Effect, the link pipe will not clamp on to the header pipe. I am unsure which gasket I need in order to resecure the second half of the exhaust system. Can any one point out the correct gasket please.

I had a look at that but not sure if that is it or not. The one that came out was a fibre gasket. Would this do the same job?

That's the right one mate, it is a fibre type gasket. It's just the pic makes them look like metal. It's like a Bakelite type material. Have you got the original exhausts?

They are the only gaskets that I know off, but Mac has Harris cans so he will be able to tell you if it's the right one for those cans. Nice cans those Harris almost as nice as mine. :biggrin

Very nice. I had thought about some new cans for mine or even some high link pipes but money is the hold back at the mo :( polishing is my only option really. Just been reading on brake upgrades on here at the mo and got confused with all the technical info :x

I would stick with the Harris cans if I was you. They are a good solid nice sounding exhaust and could polish up. You could even re-sleeve them. I'm sure there would be a way of converting them to high mounts if you wanted to at some stage.

As for brakes if you haven't got braided lines, that makes a big difference. Also give the callipers a good service and fit some new pads.

I do love the noise of them. Always get people turning round to look at me as I come down the road. Do not think the neighbours like it so much at 0530 though  How would you go about re sleeving them? carbon might go down well but then again I do like the shiny.

I am assuming that the dimentions they show on there is the width of the tubes? I would been the measure my cans then I would presume? Already looking at the carbon ones but still not 100% sure.

I would measure the cans width and height and email them explain that they are oval and query it with them. I have never purchased anything from them personally, but apparently they are very helpful and good to deal with.

I shall have to look into this. Will try giving mine a polish first to see how they come up. If that fails then I shall give them a call and see what they can do.
