Second bike options?

Post by grumpyfrog »

Looking for some random suggestions here now folks....
As sign off say's maonin cow has been punted and was searchin for alternative toy. I'm defo not gettin rid of the storm and will be gettin the suspension set up properly- new rear and new springs to the front, to try and bring her more fluid- still not sure which way to go on that....

BUT- if you could get a second toy, just for more shorter, blast along the twistes, what would you go for??
Say budget up to £2.5K, can't be a too ikle as fat gut and long legs neet to fit on at some point..:Beer Popcorn:
Been tempted for early blade, few nice ones around. CBR600F, too Jelly mold.....

Pro's cons????

NO, No, No and just NOOOOOOOO..
Why on earth would anyone in their right mind spend time on that- stick a hog engine in it and you could double the price to some of them chrome junkies...

it'll prob get better MPG than the storm...

Early blade are very good I had one before the storm .
You can pick a good one up for £1500
But you will had the suspension and r/r to sort out but you get 160 miles to the tank .
They Handel good and pull hard .
Mine had 115 bhp and 62 torque
They do have a good mid range and plenty of power up top .
The only problem I had with mine is the blade wants to be ridden hard and fast .
And you can expect the rear to spin up easily .
They are a very planted bike and good fun but it's not a v twin :-(

I absolutely loved my KTM690 I had and would buy another some day, awesome bike round twisty roads with a real fast feeling even though mostly at sub 60 mph. Try one

Get an old jap classic, I can't believe how much fun it is riding my 1976 Kawasaki KH125 and if it were a 250 it would be the ideal 2nd bike.

Some thing like and RD250 or an x7, obviously a nice 350lc would top the list but the are getting a bit pricy

Early FireBlade RRW or RRX brill bikes or CBR 600, both are well known for being reliable, and are good fun to ride, no fuss, simple no fuel injection to bother about, can pick them up for little money so you never have to sell them coz they never owe you anything.
No brainer to me,
Oh forgot to mention I found this Fireblade 1998 RRW about 3 years ago with 14,000 mls on clock been stuck in a garage for 7 years. I paid £2,250 for it, some of the lads on here have seen it and will confirm it's in excellent condition and now 14 years old, you can pick a good one up these days easy for £1,500 to £1,800, FireBlades just do what it says on the tin :D

My mate had one of these blades he loved it!

I did look great. It was nice and chunky too, although going back to what you said about 'fitting onto it' I can't comment on riding position, but he was 6foot 3 and didnt look out of place although every time we pulled up a traffic lights he always shook his hands complaining it made his wrists ache.....

I got to agree. 1st generation Blades a superb bike. The only bike I have had a go on that scared me. I felt like it was in control of me and not me in control of it. The bike was alive.

Yip, Funny thing is, I'm more than happy with the VTR hence not getting rid of it. but that Fecker Boz went and got himself a 918 balde and I was round lending a pair of hand's and had a blast up and down the car park-- hence eyes started lookin.
There was a crackin one on sale on fleebay but further down south... not overly keen on gettin one that way without lookin at it.. black and silver '98 went for £1530.. was SOOOOOOO tempted.

The bloke I sold my ZXR 750R to before i got the VTR still has it and it's been in his garage ever since.. still miss it but just too small on the leg department, but if only for a blast machine am tempted to get it back- would take all winter to get it back on the road, and am not too sure i can be arrsed with that at the mo. would need completly stripped and rebuilt and parts for it are gettin harder to get hold of. Easy enough to work on when into it.

will keep my eyes open for an early pre injection Blade and might put a shout out here if anyone would be willin to brop by and cast an eye over...
Sayin that if anyone hears/sees/has anythin, give me a shout...
Not looking to turn into a clepto like turbo, but you never know.....
