Biking in SW scotland

Post by AMCQ46 »

I have already told you how good the roads are up in SW scotland, but here is a good website showing good routes and good views.

http://www.motorcyclescotland.com/

Anybody interested should give it a go you wont regret it, too may people go straight past Galloway to get to Glasgow and the highlands, but they are missing out :D

I should mention that I have a 4 bedroom house up in Kirkcudbright that is available for rent  . I only have on street parking so I havent linked it to the website as bikerfrendly accomadation, but I am happy to leave my bike on the street there so there is no problem.

next year we have to do OP storm from there, there is a good campsite just up the hill from my house, and lots of pubs and enough great roads to fill 5 days and even the roads to get there are cracking

I would love to ride some of those roads. Have you got a garden at your house for a barbie evening. And how far is the local pub from your house and camp site.

Sound good mate. Scotland has a place in my heart.

I'd be up for a Scotland run. I love it up there. Roads and countryside are amazing.

I'd love to do this but would need an extra two days off work and as I will be off work for two weeks for the IOM TT in May/June, I'm not sure if I can commit. I will know early next year. I'll let you know Al.

Just saw a link to this from another post. Sounds great - I love Scotland and have always wanted to get up there on a bike.

Definitely interested though it would probably be on the Griso rather than the Storm. This is what I wanted the Griso for, long trips/touring.

Will have to work on this plan early next yr. needs to be more than a 2 day weekend trip for those coming up from the south, but the good thing is that you can make the ride up and back part of the ride out.

Would be
Friday ride up, with various meeting points along the way to get to kirkcudbright and set up camp / B&B.
Saturday local 200 mile ride out on one of the routes I already posted, sat night barBy & pub.
Sunday another local ride, more pub
Monday ride back south via all the high passes and reservoirs (the route I tried to take back from the TT, but gave up because of the rain, wind and fog!)

Or we make it up to a week!

I already want to go :D
