Front pot take off

Post by Kev L »

My bike started running slightly rough, with a lower tick over and noisier than usual last night, so I decided to check the exhaust joints and balance the carbs today. No problems with the exhausts but as I adjusted the carbs I noticed the pipe for the front cylinder vacume take off had come off of the adapter.
Has anyone else had this happen to them? Is it possible for it to get blown off the adapter with pressure from the pot? It pushes on a fair way onto the adapter and is a tight fit so I am wondering whether some smart butt has pulled it off. Bit of a bizarre thing to sabotage but who knows.
Anyway all adjusted up and balanced along with the HRC throttle tube mod fitted. All good.

It's a vac pipe so it can only get sucked on more I would of thought and not blown off .
I put some wire lock on mine just in case they came off .

Yes I thought the same mate. Think I will follow your lead and put a couple of (blue) cable ties around it.

Don't put them on to tight as it will stop circulation and you will spend some time in A&E with a red face

Not into auto-erotic asphyxia my friend. Michael Hutchins and David Carradine showed it's not wise!!!

Cheers mate, I haven't ridden the bike since fitting it so the journey down to Romford should be entertaining! At least it's meant to be dry.
Next thing is to bolt on the new carbs and filter.

I expect BSM is out in the cab, but he will be on here later. If you are not up as you need to rest the old body  I shall speak with marty tonight and organise a time. He'll probably want a lie in if he's working late. So check your computer in the morning.

HRC throttle is great. The front wheel on my bike lifts when pulling out of sideroads now if I give it a handful.
