Idiot mate just bought ZZR

Post by BigVeeGrin »

1100. If I knew he was going to get a bike after 18 years I'd have done a sales job on the Storm.

Anyone know if there's any known probs or things to look out for on a big heavy lump like that? etc.

Its bulletproof but boring to ride unless you are into doing trans European trips. Let him have a go on the Storm & he will soon see the light :D :D :D

Believe they have a issue with the starter clutch chain adjuster, the adjuster rod can snap.
It uses the chain to run the starter and then the alternator after the engine is started.
the rod in the auto adjuster snaps, the remainder of the rod still attached to the adjuster then flies back and hits the clutch basket and damages the clutch basket.
there is a guy in the uk that does a manual conversion, believe he started making them after having a few fail in a drag raced zzr's. but it can be a common fault in road bikes, right through from the GPz900r, ZX-10 to ZZR1100.
Believe there was a issue with the starter clutch but if memory serves that was more on the GPz and ZX10.
Hope this is of some help
Practical Sports bike did cover the Starter chain adjuster in a recent workshop section, I'll see if I can find it as have the mag somewhere.
